Winter in Big Bear Lake – Lift Tickets, Snowshoeing and more

Winter in Big Bear Lake means Skiing, Snowboarding and the Alpine Slide but everyone knows… ‘Tricks are for kids’. That doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t enjoy getting out in the fresh air and getting some exercise. Tamara and I have really enjoyed our time snowshoeing in the Big Bear area for several years now. The cost of getting set up is very manageable and we can break away from work for a couple of hours and get a great winter workout at any level we choose. Today’s snowshoes are easy to use, reasonable in price, lightweight and durable and really work.Great trails for snowshoeing are accessible most of the winter in Big Bear Lake

So while the kids are on the Ski Slopes, you can get out  and do some Snowshoeing on the many accessible trails in the Big Bear Lake area. For Trails Information on all Big Bear Lake area trails, check out the Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation website.

Boulder Bay Park-Lakeside in Big Bear Lake, boasts lots of amenities

New Boulder Bay Park Hours Just over ten years it took, from conception and a generous private donation of land and money, to complete Boulder Bay Park in the City of Big Bear Lake, CA.

Recently re-opened in 2010, the public park boasts a limited amount of free parking, restrooms, a covered pavilion, seating and picnic benches, landscaping, fencing and a fishing dock.

Early plans for a walk in ramp for launching kayaks was abandoned on complaints from local marinas and lake management  that this new permanent launch ramp would somehow pose a quagga mussel threat that doesn’t already exist along the 17 miles of unrestricted shoreline.

View from the huge pavilion looking west, Boulder Bay, Big Bear Lake, CA

The park is located on the south shore of Big Bear Lake, adjacent to Boulder Bay Market, about 1 mile west of the Village, Big Bear Lake’s destination for shopping, dining and entertainment. Walk from free parking to Boulder Bay Market.

Boulder Bay Park is publicly owned, operated and maintained by the City of Big Bear Lake and welcomes your suggestions and comments on the facilities, use and maintenance of the park.
